In 1964, a small group of visionary lawyers in Riyadh believed something that wasn't widely understood at the time: that ideas, brands, and inventions deserved the same rigorous legal protection as physical property. That conviction became Bayanat IP Holding.
Sixty years later, that founding conviction has grown into one of the most trusted intellectual property practices across the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia — a firm that has protected thousands of inventions, defended countless brands, and helped shape how businesses across the region think about their most valuable, and often least visible, assets.
This is the story of how a five-lawyer office became a five-country institution — without ever losing sight of why it started.
1964–1970s: The Founding Years
Bayanat IP Holding opened its doors in Riyadh with a team of five lawyers and a singular focus: helping local businesses register trademarks and secure their first patents in a market where intellectual property law was still in its infancy. The early years were defined by patient, foundational work — building relationships with regulators, educating business owners on why registration mattered, and handling the first hundred trademark and patent filings that would establish the firm's reputation.
By the end of the 1970s, the firm had registered over 100 trademarks and protected more than 50 patents for clients across the Kingdom — modest numbers by today's standards, but each one representing a business owner who trusted a young firm to protect something they had built from nothing.

1980s–2000s: Regional Expansion
As Saudi businesses began looking beyond the Kingdom's borders, Bayanat IP Holding grew with them. The 1980s brought expansion of the domestic team and the firm's first work supporting clients entering Gulf markets. The 1990s marked a defining milestone: the opening of the Dubai office, positioning the firm to serve the rapidly growing commercial hub of the UAE and the wider GCC region directly, rather than remotely from Riyadh.
The 2000s brought the firm's expansion into the Levant with the opening of the Cairo office, extending Bayanat's reach into Egypt's large and industrially diverse market. By the end of the decade, the firm had grown from a single-country practice into a genuine regional institution, with over 100 professionals serving clients across three countries.
2010s–Today: Growth and Innovation
The past decade has been defined by deliberate, strategic growth. In 2015, Bayanat opened its Casablanca office, extending the firm's reach into the Maghreb and establishing a gateway to emerging opportunities across West Africa. In 2018, the Istanbul office opened, connecting the firm's regional network to Central Asia and South Asia.
Throughout this expansion, Bayanat has invested heavily in technology — building proprietary tools for patent landscape analysis, trademark monitoring, and portfolio management. Today, Bayanat IP Holding stands as a five-office, 200-plus-professional institution serving over 7,000 clients across more than 20 countries — while still carrying forward the same founding conviction that started it all: that protecting an idea is protecting someone's future.
